1.Do you agree or disagree that teachers should encourage students to have class discussions during class? Give specific reasons and details in your response.
样答:I strongly agree that teachers should encourage students to participate in class discussions. Discussions improve critical thinking, problem-solving, and provide collaborative learning opportunities that engage students in learning. Additionally, class discussions allow students to share their ideas and opinions, creating a more personal and meaningful learning experience. For example, my literature class had extensive literary theme discussions. These discussions broadened my understanding of the books and helped me appreciate literature's nuances. Therefore, I agree that teachers should encourage students to participate in class discussions.
2.Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Parents should force their kids to continue learning to play the musical instrument when the kids want to give up.
样答:I disagree that parents should force their kids to continue learning an instrument. While encouraging children is important, forcing them to continue something they no longer enjoy could lead to resentment. Understanding why a child wants to quit is crucial. If it's due to feeling overwhelmed or struggling with the complexity of the instrument, forcing continuity may not be helpful. Parents can encourage their child by highlighting the benefits of playing an instrument, such as enhancing their cognitive development or memory. Overall, parents should encourage their children to learn new things and not force them to continue when they no longer want to.
3.Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Good friends are good roommates.
样答:I disagree that parents should force their kids to continue learning a musical instrument when they want to quit. Firstly, forcing a child to learn something they no longer enjoy could result in resentment and a negative attitude towards music. Secondly, parents should understand the reason for quitting before making a decision. If a child is struggling with the complexity or feeling overwhelmed, forcing them to continue is unlikely to be helpful. Instead, persuading them to continue by highlighting the other benefits of playing an instrument, such as cognitive development and social skills could be more effective.
4.Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Employees shouldn’t send personal texts or emails during work hours.
I firmly agree that employees should not send personal texts or emails during work hours. It is because this habit affects productivity and concentration, which negatively affect their performance. Moreover, this practice might encourage a culture of unprofessionalism in the workplace, and some employers view it as an act of disrespect towards the organization. Consequently, employees must prioritize their work during working hours and refrain from indulging in personal activities that may hinder their performance at work. Hence, it is better for employees to keep their personal communications for non-working hours.
5.Some people think students should learn maths at school. Some think they only have to learn maths when they actually need it. Which do you prefer? Explain why.
I strongly feel that math education at school is essential as it is fundamental to life skills. Firstly, it enhances analytical and problem-solving abilities critical to critical thinking. It is a tool to process and approach real-life problems logically, increasing our ability to solve them more effectively. Secondly, math is vital in career fields such as finance, engineering, data analysis, and even seemingly unrelated jobs may require basic knowledge. Therefore, a strong foundation in math education leads to a wide range of job prospects. In conclusion, schools need to provide a math foundation that prepares students for various aspects of life.
6.Do you agree or disagree that it is important for young people to learn skills like cooking, sewing and caring for others?
样答:I agree that it's very important for young people to learn skills such as cooking, sewing, and caring for others. Firstly, cooking is an important life skill that enables people to eat healthily, save money, and can be a fun hobby. Secondly, sewing can help promote sustainability and creativity. Lastly, caring for others promotes empathy, responsibility and can lead to personal growth. Therefore, it is crucial for young people to learn these skills to benefit both themselves and society as a whole.
7.When having activities, do you prefer to make decisions on your own, or let others make decisions?
样答:When it comes to making decisions during activities, I generally prefer to make decisions on my own. For me, it's important to have control over the planning and decision-making process. I like to have a clear idea of what I want to do and how I want to do it. However, if it's a group activity, I'm open to hearing other people's thoughts and opinions. In such a scenario, I try to find a common ground and work collaboratively to make informed and successful decisions. Overall, I believe that both individual and group decision-making have their benefits and I try to strike a balance between the two depending on the situation.
8.Some people prefer playing individual sports; while others prefer team sports. Which do you prefer?
样答:I personally prefer team sports to individual sports. In team sports, I feel a greater sense of camaraderie and motivation to work together towards a common goal. It is a great way to meet new people, bond and learn interpersonal skills, which are essential for both personal and professional growth. Additionally, team sports offer a greater variety of training and development opportunities, which can help improve both physical and mental well-being. However, individual sports can provide a sense of personal accomplishment and independence that some people may find appealing. Overall, it depends on the individual's preference and goals, but for me, the benefits of team sports outweigh the benefits of individual sports.
9.When watching a sports event, some people prefer to watch it in the stadium; others prefer to watch it on TV. Which do you prefer?
样答:When it comes to watching sports events, I personally prefer to watch them on TV instead of in the stadium. Watching from the comfort of my own home allows me to have access to instant replays, expert commentary, and a variety of camera angles that enhance my viewing experience. Also, I don't have to worry about transportation, parking, or waiting in long lines for food and drinks. Although there's a thrill to experience the electric atmosphere of a live sporting event in the stadium, I find the convenience and quality of the TV broadcast to be more appealing.
10.You are the member of two clubs in your school, but you have to quit one because this semester, you have a lot of schoolwork to do. Which one do you prefer to quit: the hiking club or the speech and debate club?
样答:I would prefer to quit the hiking club. The reason being that I believe speech and debate provide better opportunities for academic preparation and personal development. In these clubs, I have the chance to improve my public speaking skills, learn critical thinking, and develop my argumentation skills. Additionally, these skills are essential in many academic fields, and speech and debate will provide a better foundation for my future endeavors. On the other hand, the hiking club gives no such academic or personal development to me.
