吸烟有害健康:即使你是轻度烟民!

Smoking has generally declined in the United States for the past 20 years, according to the study. But even light smoking is tied to cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases and increases in the risk of cancer, the report noted.
研究表明,在过去的20年里,总体上美国的吸烟人群已经大大减少了。但报告指出,就算是轻度吸烟者也跟心血管、肺部疾病脱不了干系,也会增加患癌症的概率。
A new study has noted a rise in the proportion of very light smoking. The report defines very light smoking as no more than five cigarettes per day.
一项研究表明,轻度吸烟者的人群比例在增加。这份报告中把一天吸烟不超过五支的人定义为“轻度吸烟者”。
Director of the Center for Tobacco Control at North Shore-LIJ Health System in New York also told the network that those who carry the habit of light smoking may not even consider themselves as smokers at all or that they can easily quit the habit. She added that this type of smoker even tends to increase the amount they smoke over time tobecome a heavy smoker.
北岸医疗集团烟草控制中心的主任告诉网络媒体说,那些有轻度吸烟习惯的人也许根本意识不到自己是个吸烟者,甚至不会想到他们可以很容易地戒烟。她还补充说这类型的吸烟者甚至还会随着时间的推移进而增加自己的吸烟量,成为老烟枪。
This type of behavior leads to greater health problems later down the road, so it is absolutely crucial try anything possible in order to bring all of the problems associated with “light” smoking to the user’s attention.
久而久之,这类行为无疑会带来更严重的健康危害。所以,尽一切可能地让公众去关注所有“轻度”吸烟会带来的问题,是至关重要的。
Instead of asking if someone smokes, maybe medical professionals should start asking how often they use tobacco, since some smokers may not even identify themselves as such because of their small habit.
不要去问某人到底吸不吸烟,或许医疗专家会问他们吸烟的频率,因为有些吸烟的人并不认为自己是吸烟者,因为他们觉得这个小习惯不值一提。
The habit may be small, but the consequences are much, much greater. It’s time to get rid of smoking completely, and the best way to do that is identifying even the smallest of problems.
习惯虽小,后果可能是严重的。该是我们完全戒烟的时候了,而最好的方法就是去认识吸烟最小的危害。
