　　今天，“体育老师能不能当班主任”的话题引发网络热议。

　　这个议论的主角是浙江杭州一位名叫苏芷嫣的老师。

       据钱江晚报报道，苏芷嫣是今年9月刚入职的体育老师，也是浙江杭州一所中学的班主任。苏老师说她是自己主动向学校申请当班主任的，体育老师课业不重，有更多时间管理班级。

      A young female PE teacher in a secondary school in Hangzhou voluntarily applied for head teacher and has been doing the job for over two months — under much controversy, of course.

　　在大多数人的经历和观念里，班主任一般都是由主科老师比如语文、数学、英语老师担任，毕竟孩子升学考试主要还是看这些主科的成绩。

　　体育老师做班主任的消息一发到家长群，家长们立刻炸了锅：

　　Parents of the students in her class had a heated debate over this issue when the news first came out. 

　　苏老师班里的家长们得知消息后立刻争论起来。

　　Some feared that the PE teacher, Ms Su, may not be familiar with most of the main subjects, which might negatively impact students' academic performance.

　　一些家长担心，体育老师可能不熟悉大部分主科教学，会影响孩子的成绩。

　　Others expressed their support for Ms Su, saying that with less pressure in teaching, a head teacher from PE would focus more on the management of the class, and be more patient and caring with students. 

　　也有人支持苏老师，他们认为体育老师学科成绩压力小，有精力管理班集体，对学生更耐心和也更上心。

　　苏老师说：“其实我们体育老师并不只是教体育而已。我们在大学也有文化课，我们学的不仅仅只是跑步。管理一个班级，我们不会说不在乎学生的成绩，我们更专注培养班级的凝聚力、学做人的道理。”

　　Ms Su explained in an interview that she majored in PE at Normal University while she took lessons in the arts and sciences, too. She hoped to not only promote students' academic performances, but also enhance the internal cohesion of her class.
