Reading: The school requires all students to take three art classes so that students will be more competitive after graduation and it can help students relax from stressful study.

The man disagrees with the plan.

First, he thinks with the new plan, students will lose the freedom to choose the courses they like, and they won’t be able to choose more courses related to their major. For example, the man majors in banking and needs to take finance classes, but if he had to take art classes, he wouldn’t have time for the finance class.

Second, he says not everyone is talented enough to enjoy these classes. Take himself for example. He doesn’t like sculpture, so taking the sculpture class would be a waste of time, and could be stressful for him, too.

When a group of children finish their drawing at school, they were required to put away all the crayons in the box. In the beginning, the students were unwilling to do so or they even refuse to have a try just because the box was too small and it takes time and patience to put the crayons in it. Yet later, the teacher took a larger bin to replace the box, and the students cleaned all the crayons up.

L: (The professor) Well, today we will talk about the subject-expectancy effective. I will give some examples to illustrate this term. For instance, a manager told a group of officers that they will be offered more works and they should be more concentrated on it. However, the amount of works was the same as the amount before the officers were told, the results showed that the officers work harder before they were told, just because they knew there will be more works. Another experiment is a company gave their fatigue and tired workers a kind of vitamin which can energy people up, but actually the pills are normal placebo, the results showed that the work efficient improved after works took the fake vitamin.

The girl's parents will come to her apartment this weekend, but her apartment is in a mess.

On the other hand, it can replace one compulsory course，which helps to save time and she can choose other subjects to learn.

The way people interpret something that they see depends on what their experience has previously had. And people can be affected by previous thoughts and experience.

Two women hold different views about a man writing on his pad on the bus. One 

woman met her college classmates on the bus and they recalled the memories in their college life. She thought the man who is writing on the bus is a student who is doing his homework. The other woman who is reading a poetry on the bus thinks the man is writing a poem.

The man has a problem: he is flying back home, but he doesn’t know how to get to the airport.

There are two possible solutions:

Task3：学校有个禁止在学校骑单车的policy因为可以减少accident，而且学校提供free bus可以代替单车的用途，女生disagree因为accident主要发生在晚上，还有就是学校很大而bus是once a hour，要浪费时间去等，而且很不方便。

Task4：是讲测评 employee的说要test customer来评价职员，举了一个restaurant manager的例子说他要评估waiter和waitress。但叫专门的人来看他们work他们会过分表现良好后来他又hiring a man become customer，然后再向他汇报员工表现。

Task5：问题是女生要忙play又要忙course。导致她成缋差了。解决办法1、drop out of play，但是play对于她来说不只是为了fun，更多是为了education；解决方法2、reduce the class，她可以下学期再学但是课程还有3个星期就结束了，她以前学的也就浪费了。

Task 6：filmmaker讲的是角度拍摄low angle可以power the character。举了一个小孩看大人的例子，high angle可以weak the character，说是为了表现一个人孤独什么的可以用这个方法。

很多成功营销的秘诀就是waiting time.但对商业行为而言，关键并不是实际等待的时间，而是感知等待时间conceived waiting time,就是the time that consumers think they are waiting.
商家一般通过两种策略来cut conceived waiting time。

（1），让顾客有事可做：Let the consumers have something to do.给了两个例子，一是在医院休息室的doctor’s waiting room，放一电视TV，大家看电视，不知不觉时间就过去了；二是在电梯口elevator，放一镜子mirror，大家对着镜子臭美一下，时间就过去了，就cannot conceived the waiting time了。

阅读是关于叫observations（应该是observation method，大意是虽然可以直接问人，但是人们会不愿意批评得罪人从而结果不真实）。没有observation,有些结论是inaccurate 的

听力认同阅读(应该是的，就没有反对的，教授说了一句关于marketing 之后，就举例子了，即observations 的确在marketing 的时候很有用)。美术馆的例子。说美术馆有三个部分，想看那个比较有潜力发展的更吸引人一些。初始做法是做face to face 的采访，但是不是很有用。因为人们***，****(这几个理由都比较容易听清楚，我不记得了，并且一般受访问都不会说negative 的东西。所以呀，就采取observation。怎么observation 呢，就让保安(解释了很多保安是做什么的， 关于安全保卫呀之类，定语从句，可以不管)做两个记录，一个是记录每个参观者花费了how much time(还是说的how long，记不清楚了)在每个section，一个是记录每个section 有how many people 来参观。

【学生困难】：W说暑假在哪？M说找了个job，而且并不住在dorm，rent 了一个，觉得这样inexpensive.

【解决方案】：M说不能用kitchen，是不让用还是怎么着，所以呀，cooking就成了个问题。但是，M又想cooking，天天在外吃很贵呀，说到他喜欢Cooking(这点我不确定)，然后这M说他的一个朋友可以提供他cooking，但是这个朋友离他所住的地方远，不大convenient，得不偿失。所以女的才提出她的建议(对话都快结束了)，你可以在学校的cafeteria 买个meal plan, 提供3 meals/day,这样就不用buy food了但是M又说cafeteria离他远。呵呵，整个听下来，好象也没个确定的方案出来。

lecture讲一机制，就是生物shed他们身上的东西是可以减少对他们的damage(听到这的时候，我以为是讲动物，可是马上讲plant了)。举了例子maple tree。

一，shed leaves。冬天下雪的时候，那可能堆积在叶子上，积累太多了，就break the branches，没有叶子，就好啊，那不会堆太多(个人认为，没有叶子，过多的雪堆在树的枝条上，不一样压断了branch么，呵呵，别管这个，咱要忠实于听到的东西)。

二：没听太明白，确定提到有nutrition, 什么fruits, 然后有些fruits就掉下来。

总结：口语部分因为没在70分的要求里，所以我压根就没准备，就是看机经的时候顺便说上几句，但是经过在美国这3个月的生活，特别是上礼拜还用英语作了一个12分钟的演讲，感觉口语应该是大有提高，但是今天在回答的时候感觉不是时间不够，就是打得不全，虽然很少有喀吧不连贯的事情发生，但是总觉得发挥一般，第五题前面说太多了，最后来不及给出自己观点的理由。

口语三，阅读里面说学生建议取消读诗会，因为很少有人参加，而且可以从图书馆借CD来听。听力里女生不同意，因为现在读诗会只会在网站上发通知，如果他们能在教室、图书馆和学生中心还有报纸这些其他形式上也加以通知，肯定会有更多人来。而且参加读诗会和听CD感觉不同，可以make eye contact,use body language,和其他人分享这种经历。

口语四，阅读讲Test Marketing用来测试潜在客户对一个产品的反应，帮助公司对产品的问题进行修改，听力里举了电影公司的例子。比如他们做一个动画片给小孩看，但他们没有经验，所以就找来一些小孩看这部片子并且问他们最喜欢的角色，小孩都说喜欢里面的狗，于是公司以此为判断，把狗作为了动画片的主角，然后大获成功。

口语五，女生的问题是她的音乐剧明天首映但主演病了，她可以找人来替，但是担心这个人会觉得太紧张而演不好，也可以考虑把音乐剧推迟到下周，但这样观众会觉得很失望。

口语六，城市温度比农村高的原因。一个是城市中的机器会释放各种热量，比如汽车释放尾气和热量，另外是城市当中黑色的东西更多，更易吸收光并转化为热量。比如concrete制成的深色马路和街道。

reading说的是，一个公司如果经营不善，没有盈利的话，会组织workers into small groups, 提出work-related problems来improve the efficiency and profitability.

lecture说，一个company that makes metal parts of the cars 就老不赚钱，就让workers，大部分是machine operators跟supervisor说情况。有一个工人就说啦，lighting太差了，黑漆麻乌看不清，老mistake,那个part就报废了，又浪费material又浪费时间。然后厂里就换了新的照明系统，然后就赚钱啦赚钱啦~~

口5 一个男的说他住在off campus apartment太贵，伤不起，在想怎么办。

1）找个室友，可以分担房租啊水电费那些。因为住学校都是include在dorm fee的，所以出来好贵。但是apartment可能有点小挤，而且他出来住不用怕disturb到室友，可以study whenever he wants，所以纠结。

2）在个餐馆打工，钱还不少，但是餐馆要他最忙的时候去，就是周五和周六晚上，但是男的说啦，他跟朋友玩都是那个时间，怕打工打得没有social life了，所以继续纠结！

Definition: Environment impact assessment, ""The purpose of the assessment is to ensure that decision makers consider the environmental impacts when deciding whether or not to proceed with a project.”

Example: The professor gives an example of a construction company. The company was going to build a shopping center on a large land. Before the construction, they did a study and found the land was wetland. Their original plan was to fill solid soil into this land. But the environment impact assessment said that the wetland was very important for the environment. It could prevent flooding because it could hold water. So they decided not to fill the land and cancel this plan. Alternatively, they moved to another piece of land.

Task 5

Problem: The girl dropped her cellphone at her parent's house, but she needs it to make calls and send text messages on campus.

Solution 1: Drive back to pick it up

Pro: /

Con: It would take 3 hour. And she will have a chemistry exam this week. She wants to prepare for it rather than spend time on the road.

Solution 2: Ask her parents to mail it to her

Pro: She could use someone’s phone first while waiting for hers

Con: But they cannot mail it until tomorrow, it would also take time for her to pick it up from the campus drop box.

Two adaptations of rain forest plants to avoid water accumulation.

Adaptation 1: Coating of the plant

听力教授举自己的例子解释这个概念。具体为：该教授青少年时期在一家公司工作，负责整理文件。他遇到困难总是不能及时完成工作。该教授没有抱怨老板也没有抱怨工作太多而是想办法提高自己的能力。最后教授提高自己的能力，能按时完成工作，变得非常擅长自己的工作。

TASK5

听力男学生遇到的问题是时间冲突。一方面他要去机场接朋友，另一方面他想去参加以为作者的演讲。

　　两个解决方案为：

1 告诉朋友自己会迟到(提到的好处有：老朋友可以理解他迟到，这个朋友还可以自己在机场逛逛，吃点东西读书。缺点是朋友大老远跑来看他，不好意思迟到。2 不去参加的演讲。(提到非常想去，如果错过不会有第二次机会)

TASK6

生物课堂上老师讲解了有些树能够活很长时间的原因—树的适应性。主要有两个方面。

　　1 通过释放化学物质避免虫害。举例为red wood，树叶和树干中含有天宁酸，所以虫子不能忍受这种物质，所以不会去吃red wood.

　　2 发达的根系可以帮助在风暴中幸存下来。举例仍为red wood. 说首先有发达的根系stretch every direction, 以及还可以与周围的树木的根系相组合。互相缠绕在暴风中就不会有问题。
