tell somebody off (for something / for doing something)

　　可以理解为教训、责备(to speak angrily to sb. for doing sth. wrong). 比如：

　　I told the boys off for making so much noise.

　　还有一个小学生们经常干的事情：tell on somebody告状，高发。

　　Promise not to tell on me! (你要答应我…别给我告老师啊!)

　　Shame on you!

　　这个好有气势的表达，是这个意思：It’s used to say that you should feel ashamed for something you have said or done. 剧中男主觉得身边的人歧视gay couple，于是忍无可忍冒出来这么一句。
