strapped (for cash, funds, etc.)

　　在美语里表示“资金短缺的”(having little or not enough money)。例如：

　　I’m strapped for cash at the moment—can I pay you later?

　　financially strapped governments

　　swing both ways

　　To be bisexual (= sexually attracted to both men and women). 也就是“双性恋，男女通吃”。超级形象的表达!

　　look the other way

　　To deliberately avoid seeing somebody / something. 可以翻译成“视而不见”。例如：

　　Prison officers know what’s going on, but look the other way.

　　false hope

　　不切实际的希望，幻象。例如：

　　They didn’t want to raise/build up any false hopes, but they believed her husband had escaped capture.

　　give it a rest

　　当某人说的话很不讨喜让你觉得厌烦，你想让他们住口的时候，就可以这么说，例如：

　　Give it a rest! You’ve been complaining all day.

　　按照Violet的说法，她希望自己能够break the cycle，她希望自己的孩子能够有个正常的家庭，于是她就忍痛give her baby up for adoption. 不过她的呆萌男友的父母貌似不太爽，但这阻止不了我们的Violet，最后baby到底去了哪里，大家继续往后看吧!
