Nina Dobrev has announced she'll be leaving "The Vampire Diaries" at the end of Season 6. With a seventh season in the pipeline, what's the best way to send off Elena?

　　In short, there's not one perfect answer. As many of Hypable's readers pointed out, Elena is a critical part of the show.

　　Hypable's thoughts: When it comes down to it, Elena's presence most strongly affects one other character on the show, Damon. Ultimately, the resolution has to be there for both of them in order for it to be a satisfactory ending to the entire Elena Gilbert saga. If this viewer had her way, Elena would find herself in the hands of an Original who would agree to take away any and all distinguishing characteristics of those she has been associated with. Not the memories themselves, just the ability to name them or identify them so that she won't be fodder for anyone who might be looking for any of them in the future.

　　She would then make her way to some undisclosed location with the knowledge that when the time is right, Damon will come to her and they will live out the rest of their existence together. It just seems wrong to kill her off after all the trouble the Salvatore brothers have gone to in order to keep her alive all this time, but it also feels wrong to just pair Damon off with the next available lady.

　　However they choose to write Nina Dobrev off the show, we hope they find a way to do so that honors all the struggles this group has endured on her behalf while also helping Elena find the peace she has been looking for since her parents died.

　　Some fans let their emotions get the best of them. "It would be perfect if they didn't actually," Iliana told us while seemingly feeling upset. "Maybe if she wasn't sleeping around with Ian this would not have happened. Good riddance. She is a terrible actress anyway," said Katherine.
