　　A:你看见刚刚从我办公室离开的那位女士 了吗?

　　B：Yes.

　　B:看见了。

　　A:She，s another applicant, and a leading contender, but I didn’t want to hire her. She’s qualified，but she doesn’t quite fit the profile. We’re looking for an accountant, and part of the job requires interacting with clients. Well, our clients want conservative people to handle their money. And green hair with ripped jeans doesn’t exactly fill them with trust.

　　A：I realize that, but our business is serving clients and giving them what want.

　　B：Of course.

　　B:当然。

　　A：Well, they don’t want to deal with pie who look like that. They want pie who look more like yourself.

　　A:他们不想和那样打扮的人打交道。他们要的是像你这样看起来很实在的人。

　　B：Why is that?

　　B:为什么?

　　A:Wen,they’re older, and they don’t understand today's fashions. When they see someone dressed like that, warning bells go off. They don’t like that style at all, and they don’t like dealing with people who dress like that at work.

　　A:他们年纪较大，也不懂得时下的流行。当看到有人那样穿着打扮时，他们就产生怀疑。他们一点也不喜欢那种穿着风 格，也不愿意跟打扮成那样的工作人员 打交道。

　　B：Oh, l see.

　　B:噢,我懂了。

　　A：We used to have a woman here who dressed like that and she was good, very good. But, the clients reacted very negatively when they saw her. Some asked that their account be given to someone who dressed more conservatively.

　　B：What happened to her?

　　A： Well, she was a very good employee and we wanted to keep her, so her supervisor called her in for a chat and laid it on the line for her. She got the idea and now she saves the trendy styles for evenings and weekends.
