The importance of developing communication skills
Why are some people successful while others are not? What is the secret of being successful? The author of the picture seems to know the answer. In the picture, a boy dressed like “Money King”, a character in a traditional Chinese opera “The Journey to the West” asked his father “What if no one likes what I do?”, while his father smiled and reminded him by replying “The only thing important is that you like it. Anything else is secondary”.
What the picture is trying to convey easily resonates with us because it is common for us to see ourselves and others be swayed by others’ opinions. What we truly need is always to stick to our dreams instead of following the crowd. When it comes to holding fast to dreams, I can think of no better example than Steve Jobs. He didn’t see the value in his major at college and dropped out and then began to drop in on some classes that looked far more interesting to him such as a calligraphy class. And it was what he had learned in this class that has finally been translated into the beautiful calligraphy designs of the world-famous Macintosh computers. Had he lacked the courage to face what others disprove of and the social criticism of dropping out of school, he wouldn’t have been one of a kind.
Therefore, follow your heart and don’t waste your time on living other people’ s life.
