In the lecture, the professor talks about 2 benefits that forest fire can have for some animals. The first benefit is that they can make it easier for predators to find food. For example, the wild turkeys will go to the edge of the forest fire, and wait there in order to catch the fleeing insects running out of the burning forest. This is a much easier way to catch insects than the normal way of pecking them on the ground. Another benefit is that they can help provide a good place for the development of certain young animals. For example, some trees can be poisonous to certain beetles because of certain chemicals. But after a fire, the trees are dead; and there won’t be any harmful chemicals to the beetles. So, the beetles can lay eggs on it; and the young beetles can use the tree nourishment to get matured into adult.
