模考44 Task 6
Sample Answer
Well, the professor gives us a lecture on two benefits of forest fires for animals. The first one is that it’s a better way for predators to locate food. For example, wild turkeys usually find it hard to spot hidden insects. However, with the forest fire burning, insects have to fly out of their hiding places, say, the underground, which offers the turkeys a perfect opportunity to wait out of the fire and capture the insects easily. The other advantage is the change of the environment from unfavorable to beneficial. For instance, normally, beetles can’t approach some trees because they give out some toxic chemicals. But when the forest fire is over, the burnt trees that are dead with no more poisonous stuff provide the beetles with a desirable site to lay eggs. Then the young beetles are able to absorb the nutrients from the trees. In a word, these are the two benefits brought by forest fires to animals.
