首先，“双十一”通常翻译为Double 11。但是，如果光这样说的话，不了解中国的外国人是无法明白它的意思的，说了等于白说。笔者建议大家这样来解释“双十一”：

　　"Double 11" is a day when Chinese people go on massive Internet shopping spreesbecause many online stores offer huge discounts on this day.

　　其中：

　　1. a day when用来对某个日子下定义;

　　2. go on massive Internet shopping sprees是“疯狂网购”的意思;

　　3. offer huge discounts是“打折打得厉害”的意思。

　　其次，“光棍节”通常翻译为Singles' Day。有些地方也翻译为Bachelors' Day，但个人认为不太好。Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English对bachelor的解释是a man who has never been married，专指男光棍，有性别歧视之嫌，因为也有女光棍。除此之外，请注意Singles' Day的撇号在s右边，Teachers' Day也是相同情况。但是，Father's Day和Mother's Day的撇号在s左边，这大概是因为父母都是唯一的吧。

　　总结一下：

　　“双十一”是"Double 11"

　　“光棍节”是Singles' Day
