　　The full name of Han Chinese consists of family name and given name. In a Chinese name, the family name always appears ahead of the given name, and over the past centuries, the father’s family name has been passed on from generation to generation. Nowadays, however, it is not rare that a child is named using his/her mother’s family name. Generally speaking, a given name includes one or two Chinese characters, which bears parents’ expectation for children. We can infer from a child’s name that what kind of people his parents hope him to be and what life his parents hope him to live. Parents attach great importance to giving a name to their children, in that the given name would accompany all their life.
