run something by/ past somebody

　　To show somebody something or tell somebody about an idea in order to see their reaction to it.

　　可以理解为“想征求一下你的意见，有个事儿得跟你说一下”之类的意思。

　　这个在雅思口语中是不是会很有用呢，如果把I like going hiking.说成上面的I’m a bit of a nature buff.考官眼前会顿时发光哦!必须加分!

　　To accept a bad or difficult situation and so as well as you can.

　　这个表达总让我想起一句歌词：take a sad song and make it better. 就是特别乐观的想法，虽然身处逆境，但是也尽力做到最好，利用有限的资源，努力达到最好的结果。也可以说成make the best of things或者make the best of a bad job.
